Thousands of Pensioners Expected to Benefit from Collaboration between the NIBTT and the Ministry of Legal Affairs
The National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT) entered into a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Legal Affairs on
Wednesday 26th February 2014.
Under the proposed MOU, the Register General’s Department will provide the NIBTT
with regular access to information on Births and Deaths registered with the
department. This will allow the NIBTT to issue automatic payments to
beneficiaries of long-term NIS benefits
unless it receives notification of their death. Once implemented, tens of
thousands of pensioners will benefit from a reduced Life Certificate process.
Signatories to the MOU are Ms Karen Bridgewater, Registrar General, on behalf of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Ms Karen Gopaul, Executive Director (Ag.), National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago.
